Listed below are serving opportunities in various ministries that need your support. If you would like to connect with a ministry enter your contact info below and we'll help get you started!
Greeters: Individuals, couples, and families can be greeters! Greeters are positioned at the front door of the church to welcome those who enter for Sunday morning worship. They will be trained and equipped with basic knowledge of where things are in church and how to direct someone if needed.
Ushers: Those individuals serving in the capacity of an usher will typically be schedule to serve for a month of Sunday services. Ushers will assist in handing out bulletins, lighting the altar candles, finding open spots for those entering the sanctuary, as well as helping anyone with any specific needs (i.e. hearing devices) They will also assist with the offering and Holy Communion.
Janitors:This has been a volunteer position at Calvary to this time whereby many individuals have demonstrated their fine efforts in keeping God’s house in fine order. Generally individuals, couples or families sign up to serve a month at a time or team up with another family to each take half a month. Duties include everything from vacuuming floors and pews, mopping floors & cleaning the bathrooms to cleaning windows, dusting & emptying garbage.
Senior Quilts: A very special ministry through the women of the church has been the making of a quilt for every High School senior that is a part of the Calvary church family. You don’t have to be a seamstress to be of great help. The women are looking for willing volunteers to cut fabric pieces and pin together the quilt. There is a great time of fellowship in this ministry.
Nursery Care: Those involved in the nursery ministry are scheduled on a rotation basis to supervise the nursery and children present during Sunday worship. Individuals volunteering in the nursery will provide a safe and fun environment for infants through preschool age.
Teacher: The teacher is responsible for the planning and implementation of weekly lessons that will provide each child with an opportunity to learn and grow in faith and to nurture each child so that he or she will experience the love of Christ. One could serve as a teacher for Sunday School or Release Time.
Substitute Teacher: The substitute teacher will take on all of the responsibilities of the Lead Teacher in his/her absence. See Lead Teacher description. One could service as a substitute for Sunday School or Release Time.
Sunday School Christmas Program: The Christian Education committee is seeking a group of volunteers to plan this year’s program for the preschool through 6th grade. This would involve deciding the theme, putting together a plan, overseeing practices and bringing it all together.
Vacation Bible School: Vacation Bible School happens during the summer months in the evenings at Calvary and there is always a need for many volunteers to make this outreach and ministry a success. If you are willing to service in any way please contact us.
Worship Team: This is an opportunity particularly for leading Sunday morning worship for instrumentalists and vocalists to give witness of their faith in Christ through their musical gifts and abilities.
The Tech Crew: These individuals are vital to many ministries at Calvary, especially at Sunday morning worship. This may involve projection or sound. Concerning projection, if you have a knack with computers and are interested in any or all aspects of audio and visual then you may be interested in volunteering for any of the following:
Special Music: Volunteers are welcome to share their musical abilities – instrumental or vocal – at Sunday worship or at other special services.
Scripture Reader: This opportunity is for men. It would involve reading the Scripture lessons at Sunday worship. Young men having been Confirmed in the faith are also welcome to participate.
Children’s Sermon: Pastor Alan is not the only one who can do a children’s sermon at Sunday worship. Preparations would include choosing a topic, interacting with the children and closing the time in prayer.
Prayer Warriors: You are willing to join a group that generally meets the first Sunday evening of the month to pray together for a period of time or you may wish to join a small group that has been praying together at 8:45 a.m. before the Sunday school hour.
Small Group Leader: Wednesday night youth group is always welcoming adults who are grounded in their faith and who are willing to lead discussion in breakout groups.
Event Coordinator: A coordinator oversees the planning of various events for the youth throughout the year. This person is not the one that does it all, but makes sure that the events that other parents have volunteered to do get carried through. (i.e. Scavenger Hunt, Christmas party, Sledding event, Game Night)
Chaperones/Drivers: Chaperones and drivers would attend various youth events, service projects, camps, retreats, the FLY Convention, etc. You would be there to ensure proper supervision and safety of the students, as well as get to know the students and build relationships with them. Depending on the event, there may be spiritual care that is needed as well: leading a short devotion and/or talking with a student about matters of faith.
