As to my background, I was baptized into God’s saving grace as an infant and had the opportunity to make that faith my own at the age of eight years old. There have been numerous times I have rededicated my life to Jesus realizing my sin, God’s forgiveness and my need for His strength to walk in obedience. Through a series of events and soul searching the Lord directed me to seminary and as a result, I graduated from the Free Lutheran Seminary (FLS) in Minneapolis in 1993. I was ordained at that time receiving a call into parish ministry. I have served congregations in Badger, MN, and in Ottawa, IL. I am married to my wife Lisa of nearly 30 years who is my partner in life and ministry. We have three grown sons all in their twenties - Brady, Kyle (Marli) and Aaron (Rachel).
If you come to Calvary you will find that we have a blended worship service where the Word of God is proclaimed. We do have a nursery ministry during worship for those children in preschool. Our Sunday school includes classes for all ages from preschool through adults. There is an active women’s and men’s ministry. We also teach God’s Word through small group Bible studies, Confirmation instruction and Release Time classes. We are privileged to have a thriving weekly youth ministry. Calvary is affiliated with the Association of Free Lutheran Congregations (AFLC) headquartered in Minneapolis. We are not part of a synod but a denomination of about 270 churches. The AFLC holds to the inerrancy of God’s Word. The AFLC has its own seminary (FLS) and two year Bible college (FLBC)) in Minneapolis, MN.

“O Magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together.” Psalms 34:3
Hello! Welcome in Jesus’ Name! Just a little about my family and I, and our church family and history here. My name is Alan Arneson and I have had the privilege of being the pastor of this wonderful congregation for over 15 years. It has been amazing to see God’s hand at work in and through His people. I have had the experience of being a part of the building of a new church facility that we moved into in May 2010. This new facility met so many critical needs we had as a church. What a blessing it was to see God’s people come together in unity and heart and mind. It was a stretch for the body of Christ but there has been no doubt that it was the Lord’s will. I think I can say that about half the people that worship here now did not worship in our former church building. Praise God for growth in His kingdom! That is what the church is all about!
Let me share briefly a few things that have occurred in more recent years here at Calvary for which we praise God. About five years ago we approved having a part-time hired Youth worker. We are very thankful for John Peterson in this position and the love for the youth and the passion for Christ he brings to what he does. In 2018 we had the privilege of burning the mortgage on the debt on our new church building earlier than expected. Then in that same year, our church parking lot was paved. We give thanks to the Lord for these great blessings!
