Calvary Saints – Youth Group meets Wednesdays during the school year from 6:45 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. We minister up to approximately 40 youth. This takes a host of volunteers that includes our youth leader, small group leaders, fundraising, events and snack coordinators and a Youth Council. A great group of parents and prayer supporters makes this ministry thrive.
Sunday School – We have a great group of students that meet Sundays at 9:15 a.m. during the school year for time in God’s Word and how it applies to everyday life. Students in 7th-12th grade are welcome to attend.
Confirmation Classes – A two year rotating curriculum is taught focusing on the fundamentals of God’s Word, the Catechism, Bible passages and Scripture memory. Ideally students are in 7th and 8th grade but numerous students are also freshman and sophomores that have been a part of the class. Classes are offered Fridays at 8:30 a.m. or Sundays at 9:15 a.m.
Youth Gatherings - There are a number of events that Calvary youth participate in that includes our district youth retreat in February in Bemidji and Senior Camp in June at our district camp, Bethany Bible Camp, near Bemidji . Two national youth events in the AFLC have been a part of our ministry - Free Lutheran Youth (FLY) Beyond which occurred this past summer in Wisconsin and the FLY Convention which many of our youth will attend next summer in Colorado.
Opportunities connected with the High School – The Fosston Ministerial also offers times to gather with other youth in our community at See You at the Pole (SYATP) in September, after home football games at 5th Quarter and after basketball games for 3rd Half. Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) also happens Thursdays at 7:40 a.m. at Hope Lutheran. All students are welcome to come for a hot breakfast and devotional.

Hello, I’m John Peterson. I'm the part-time youth leader at Calvary Free Lutheran Church, and I am grateful for the opportunity to be able to teach the youth about what Jesus Christ has done for them and the hope that they can have in him. I’m from Thief River Falls, Minnesota, and after High School I decided to go to the Free Lutheran Bible College. I went to this college for two years, and in those two years I have learned a lot, but still want to know more. Also at the college, I had the opportunity to be on a Summer Team, which is a team that travels around the USA and teaches VBS for ten weeks during the summer. I got to do this two times, and during that time at FLBC and as a part of the Summer Teams, I learned that I really enjoyed hanging out with youth and kids. After that, I really wanted to be able to do something related to youth or kid ministry. Then I started praying about where God would lead me to do this. God led me to Fosston through my brother, and now I’m thankful for being able to teach the Youth at Calvary.
